Artist’s Palette

It’s fun to imagine
the taste and touch of a colors,
and not just their appearance.

Red is said to be hot and burning with passion,
but mixed with black, the color of fear,
no one would give it a second glance.

But what if red is ice-cold and blue
is ice-hot then maybe colors need
more than just sight.

As judged on appearance alone
it would be a terrible, terrible life
for a world full of colors

colors down drain

House of Light

light house sunrise

I’ve been searching for a lighthouse,
one on the beach,
above crystal-clear waters.

It’s the lighthouse I need
and its entire purpose
is all that I am not.

A lighthouse is never lost,
never scared, and
never lacking purpose.

Its job is to guide, bring boats
back to shore, and help the lost.

It’s the lighthouse I desire
for its ability
to make find myself, once again.

Free Fall

tumblr_mwujx5cg461qmstddo2_1280

We change our minds
like the seasons
and try to forget
the lives of our past.

Fall makes us forget
how far we’ve fallen,
how far we’ve gone.

As orange and browns,
inevitably wither away
and leave you behind
in a pile of nothing.

Embrace your fall
and change with the seasons

On Thin Ice

They don’t know what it’s like standing on edge,
fighting for survival, living each day
without no one reason to go on.

It’s easy being human,
for they own the word, as they say.
But me, I’m just an enemy, hiding in mountains of snow,
fighting each day to see tomorrow’s sunrise.

On this block of ice is where I get away.
The excitement, and danger of peering into the unknown,
and venturing off on my own gives me a rush, one I often desire.
Hunters won’t find me here and neither will my cubs,

it’s what I need.

Sometime I wish that I could float down a stream,
get washed up on an island, and never come back.

Please get me away from the snow,
and into the sun.
I want to be on my own,
to feel what it’s like to be warm
on both the inside and out

Grey Scale

SplitShire-9412.jpg

He lives in black and white,
dreams in vivid color,
believes beauty is a myth,
and existence is a curse.

He knows there is good,
submerged in darkness,
lost and looking for light.

Good is like a firefly in the night,
stuck in a well:
so far down,
so far away
just flicker in the distance.

Nobody cares when good has gone missing,
except for when it’s dark
and there’s no one to guide them.

Yeah, that’s when they will care.

The moment they finally realize
no one likes to live
in colors of black and white

We Never Existed

What if no one was there
and it was only
you and I, but neither of us existed.

I could write this poem
page after page,
forever and ever,
but it wouldn’t matter
because it was all a dream
or better yet, a mirage.

What if what I’m saying makes no sense.
What if I’m crazy?
What if I’m not?

Writers are Selfish

scripture-960538_640

but writers don’t care;
they rearrange,
mix and match letters
anyway they wish.

They don’t care if H
doesn’t like it near A
or T doesn’t like it in the middle,
and if E isn’t fond of the end,
they do it anyway.

Writers force letters together
just to express themselves
with no regard
or feelings toward innocent letters.

Starlight Whispers

_Shadow_Bloom__Vileplume_by_endless_whispers

Give me your hand, empty your soul,
pour it out in mine, tilt over and
wash it all away
like a wave on the shore
then crash,
retreat and do it again.

Please,
no worries here, it’s so very safe
it’s the others I’d fear.

Their hunger to know,
appetite for desire,
but believe it or not
we’re all darkness inside
not only sunrises, but sunsets as well

so lend me your hand, promise, I’ll hold it tight as
we’ll dance together and pirouette through twilight

Without a Sparkle

Take away the glimmer, glossy effects and what is left behind?

Now walk down the street, look around and tell me what you see.

Most likely you are going to see a lot of pretty colors and bright lights. Sometimes those colors and lights are there to hide what is underneath.

There are so many things that are covered up from their true natural beauty. We live in a world covered with riddles, but no answers. Sometimes it feels as if the world is a painting with beautiful colors and brushstrokes, but behind it is a blank canvas.

It is so hard to find natural beauty in a person, but it is easy to find in nature. Just look up on a dark night and you will find it. To find beauty in a person is like going through a maze.

25
Lights shine all around of us, but is it really a cover up for what may be underneath?
Sure the earth shines brighter than any planet in the solar system. Look at the earth from space it is easy to get lost in its exterior beauty. The colors that shine off in the dark sky will leave you in awe.

As you get closer and closer you see the big, white puffy clouds hiding what is underneath.

Under the clouds are groups of people fighting each other to get to the top. Even people of the same race, color and generation all fighting for a chance to stand tall and look down at everyone else. It’s a pretty world we live in, but the people on it, not so much. There are a lot of people in the world with good in their heart even though it may not show.

I just hope that one day, the world from a distance will be just as beautiful as the world through a magnified glass.

Rain, Rain, Come and Stay

What would happened if it rained 24/7? I mean nothing but rainy day, after rainy day. It sounds like a pretty good Dr. Seuss idea, or maybe similar to the children’s book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Sure, rain everyday would not seem like the ideal weather for some, but maybe rain everyday would have a greater impact than one might think.

Hey, birds! Go back inside, it’s raining! Gosh!

Rain gives you the perfect excuse to stay inside all day and be lazy. No one wants to go outside when its raining, they rather sit home, do some work around the house and read a book that they never had the chance to read. See! Already one thing that has gotten done thanks to the benefit of rain. Now let’s think a little deeper into it. Since your home and snuggled up in your house, another benefit of this would be, no need to use your car. Since there is no need to use your car, you would save money on gas and going out and spending money!

Let’s go back to 1800’s, there has been many wars fought over land, power and greed. What would happen if, the day of the war there was a huge rainstorm. No one wants to go out in the middle of a huge rain storm to fight amongst each other, they would rather settle there conflict over a nice game of cards inside! Thanks to some rain, the whole history of America could have been rewritten, well kind of!

Rainy Day Checklist

Sleep √

Chores √

Television √

Relaxation √

More sleep! √

Now back to the 2000’s, rain not only forces you to stay indoors, but it keeps you off the streets and out of trouble as well. Instead of being out on the street, you are pretty much forced to stay at home. While at home you also have to the chance to spend some time with your family. There are many people who don’t have the time to spend a few hours a day with their loved ones. This is why rain is there to help!

As you can see, rain is pretty awesome. There are many reasons why it should rain a lot more often. I am still a big fan of snow though. I would’ve made this idea up about snow, but snow is so darn annoying to clean up. Anyway, I am sorry if I offended any lovers of the beach with this idea, but a little rain can go a long way!

No More Video Games! Wait, What?

Many parents yell at their kids and say that they are not active. They tell kids to put away their video games because they are not productive and are just a waste of time.  The mass media also agrees, they say that video games cause violence in younger children and expose them to things that they should not see at their age.

The debate is that video games cause violence in younger children. Video games are similar to movies, they are not real and are just for entertainment. Also, video games have ratings on them; they tell you what age group should be playing what game. Parents should be responsible for letting their children play a game that has a mature rating, just like they should be responsible for letting their child watch a rated-R movie. I think that video games are a scapegoat to bad parenting. As a parent, they should know what their kids are playing and watching. Even though it’s inevitable to block everything that they see, they should still be able to monitor what they watch or play. I don’t get why no one puts any blame on television and movies and always are quick to blame video games.

There are far more positives than negatives when it comes to video games. Video games keep kids away from the violence. Kids are safer inside of their house shooting imaginary aliens rather than out on the streets causing chaos. Video games help keep kids and their minds active, instead of them going out smoking and drinking like many kids are doing in our generation now. There are even video games that are educational; there are games that help kids learn even more than they do in school. Let’s face it, what kid pays attention in class, I know I never did. I can honestly say I learned more jumping from platform to platform in Mario and trying to collecting rings in Sonic than learning useless equations in math.

All he ever wanted to do was eat some ghosts. I wouldn’t consider that crime; the dude was hungry.

Most parents want kids to sit at home and read books. Sorry, but no twelve-year-old wants to jump into an exciting book. They want to pick up a controller and try to catch every Pokemon they can. If you can get your kid to read book after book, then I give you all the credit in the world. Sure, reading can be good, but so can video games. You can learn the same amount in reading a book as you can playing a video game.

Take away video games and see what happens. Kids would go crazy; there would be more kids in trouble than ever. Video games are more than education, and they are fun as well! Video games can help you learn without even knowing that you are learning. Playing puzzle games such as Tetris can help you learn the concept of recognizing and putting things where they belong and following an order, tell me how this is different from what you learn in math class, it is not. I say kids should play, under the right supervision.

Die a Hero or Live a Villain?

“You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

Harvey Dent spoke these words in the final scene of the movie, Batman: The Dark Knight. It is a quote that leaves you thinking and gives you the ultimatum of either dying a hero or living as a villain.

Obviously, this is a life-changing decision.

Being a hero is a prestigious honor. A hero is someone who is looked up to, someone who is there for others to help them decide between good and evil. At the same time, being a hero is a dangerous task. It means standing up for something that you believe in and defending it to the death.

There are all different kinds of heroes. These heroes can range from sports athletes in the field to any army solider on the battlefield. Being a hero is not an easy job, it a lifestyle. Would you risk it all? Are you willing to take a bullet just to die with this prestigious title?

Hero or Villain? What side do you choose?

A villain is pretty much the anti-hero; the person who does not have a drop of kindness or remorse for anyone. They are there only to make sure that the hero doesn’t achieve their goal.

There are villains in our everyday life, and they are the same people who hate to see others succeed and believe that no one else can achieve happiness unless it includes them.

Some people embrace the villain role while there are others who feel sorry for villains. Many flourish when faced with evil and may not even know it. They enjoy the hate and love being be the villain. They love being the rebel and stand for everything that is wrong, but is it worth it?

Would you want to live with the title of being a villain and having the world turned against you?

In the famous quote by Harvey Dent, he said that if you have the chance to die a hero and don’t take it, then you will eventually turn into a villain.

Taking the chance to die, means you are indeed a hero. Standing for something and risking death, are traits only heroes have.

After seeing both sides of the quote and thinking it over, I think I would much rather die a hero.

Some people believe in something but aren’t willing sacrifice to show their true belief. I believe if you are willing to sacrifice your life for something you believe in, it illustrates the kind of person you are. It proves that you are indeed a hero no matter what anyone says and you willing to pay the ultimate price to prove it.
