Thank you!

First, I would like to thank any one who has ever stumbled upon my blog and read any of my posts.

Number-100When I began this blog a couple of years ago I never expected that it would turn out the way it is now.

This blog is a timeline of my life and I like looking back on my older posts and seeing how much my writing and I have changed over time.

I have been able to connect with so many others bloggers on here, it really is amazing. I appreciate all of the feedback and opinions that I get on my writing as it keeps me motivated to keep on posting, thank you (again).

Sorry, for the boring post, but I wanted to take the time out to thank everyone.

Here is to several hundred more! (:

Luck or Fate?

Millions of people pay money to win the lottery. There is not one person in the world who wouldn’t like to win a few million dollars. What if by some crazy chance you happened to win?

Would you justify it by saying you were lucky or was it fate?

Being lucky or unlucky is something you are not born with. It is something that just happens. Sometimes there is no reasoning for things that happen.

People like to use the word fate because it justifies something that happened. It gives a definitive meaning to the question, why?

Many people tend to think that fate is going to lead them on their path of life. Some think that they were born with some sort of purpose or contribution that they are going to make one day. Many people who are religious believe in fate and destiny as well. I am pretty religious myself, and I think that you can have faith; it’s to hard believe in fate.

Faith is easy to have. Fate, well not so much

Finding a heads up penny on the street is considered good luck, but why? I really don’t understand who came up with this idea. Did some lucky guy find a heads up penny on the ground and this lead to his luck? Maybe, it was lucky for him, but why the heck would it be lucky for me!

The sun will rise tomorrow and life will go on if you have luck, fate, neither or both.

A Road Already Traveled

Imagine if someone gave you a map of your life with every choice you are going to make with an X at the end. Would you take the map or just throw it away?

Having this map would be pretty helpful. Now, you would know what mistakes your were going to make before you actually made them. If you had a tough decision to make and you ended up making the wrong choice, you could change it because you now know the outcome.

A downside to this idea is that, where is the excitement?

Some people live for the unexpected.

They like living on the edge and not knowing what lies ahead of them.

I think that knowing your destination takes away from the meaning of life. It takes away from our ability to make choices and chose our own paths. Sure, some would breathe a sigh of relief knowing if their hard work is going to pay off, but not knowing if your going to reach your goal is what keeps us going.

Me personally, I enjoy not knowing the unknown. Waking up and not expecting what may or may not happen that day. I think it all depends on the person that you are.

There are some that like taking chances, while others who like knowing what is going to happen next.

Some skip to the end of a movie just to watch the ending while others enjoy watching the plot and story unfold in front of them.

Here is another tough choice. What if you found out the path you were in was a one that had a nightmare ending. Maybe being in the wrong place at the wrong time and something bad happening to you. This is when knowing the future would be very helpful and may save you from a nightmare ending and turn it into something a lot more rewarding.

No need for a map when you already know your destination.

When that time comes and you find that so-called treasure map with your life planned out, do you dare to look?

I think I would just take that map of my life and put it back in the treasure box that it came in and live life without it.

After the Storm

Neither a word nor whisper in the air.
A man staggers down the street
caressing a photograph in his hand.
Wind gusts swirl through a tortured town,
toward a new destination;
tall, marvelous buildings now
undressed with their gowns lying on the floor

Birds creep into cracks; they
have no songs left to sing.

Tears trickle down the man’s face as
his lips draw a blank,
memories flash in his head.

The sun, a familiar visitor,
rises to watch and spread love to the survivors

Onward to the next town,
the wind lifts picks up the photograph
for a roller coaster ride.

A school of fish once splashed in the sea,
now stuck to the sand.

The man says a final goodbye;
his picture swirls toward the sky

Snow Top

6810145-snowy-mountain

Looking up to the sky, the snow flakes tickle my nose as they drift on their way to the cottony, white covered floor. I inch out my tongue to get a taste of the drifting flakes, but it graces the warm surface and disappear.

In front of me the clouds, stars, moon and beyond. A companion hung by side, a backpack filled with hope, memories and need.

I look down, squinting through my fingers. Me on the top of a mountain, a small spec on a pile of opportunity.  I have never left the graces of the ground. One minute I was down there, now here, what in the world.

The world hmm… maybe my lonely question found an answer.

Size ten shoe prints in my rear view and the sun, moon were over top. The sun glistened off the freshly layered powder and shined over with a layer of love to keep it warm in the frigid cold.

A breeze softly sifted through my hair, as it went by I tried to grab on to it, but it swirled between my fingers en route to the next mountain top. I breathe to see the smoke exhale out of my mouth, trying to grab it for warmth before it disappears in the starry galaxy.

Only one option left remained in my cluttered head. It was time to say goodbye to the world and follow the moon on way to my next stop.

Should I close my eyes on the way down, maybe so. Maybe I will fall to the bottom, get up, and dust myself off.

Ready, set, go! I held my breath, leaped and I was gone.

My past flashed in front of my eyes as I sank to the earths core.

I began to think of my future. The dreams and hopes held ever so closely to me.

Now inches from the ground I began to rise. Not a fear in the world. The sun with help from the moon, reached out to me and I grasped their hand as they lifted me toward them.

Ring, ring the alarm sounded and I promised not to open my eyes, but this time I had to.

Stay True to You

Money, looks and power. If you have any of these three, you are ahead of the game, well according to our society. We get so consumed in trying to get to the top and impressing others, we forget to take a stop and think. We forget to take a second and worry about the perception of ourselves instead of the perception of how others view us.

Preppy, punk, jock, nerd, emo are all common stereotypes that people fall into. It is done so easily too, if you go outside wearing nothing but black there are sure to be whispers about your appearance. I have seen it and I live it everyday.

Goldfish are so boring. Be a Bluefish

Appearance and style is such an important part of today’s society, we forget to remember that there is a person behind those clothes. There is a person with emotions, feeling and a heart. If someone wants to wear all black, all pink or yellow or whatever, they have the right to do so.

I disagree with a lot about clothing and fashion, but one thing it does is that it gives the ability to express yourself.

When expressing yourself, remember to act, dress and express yourself the way that YOU want to. Don’t do it because of attention, don’t do it because it will make you popular do it because it is truly you.

Don’t try to mimic what you see on television and on magazines, start your own trend and be your own person. Trends are started just for the sake of popularity. If you’re different, but you are being yourself it does not matter what anyone in the world thinks. As long as you are expressing yourself and are happy, who cares?

Be an individual, express yourself, be you.

Take a Second, be Thankful

In a world of possessions and materialism it is easy to look at things you don’t have and get upset. Instead of thinking about the things that you don’t have, be thankful for the things that you do have, and never take anything you have for granted.

After making it through Hurricane Sandy with my house, family and friends all safe. Watching millions of people on television lose everything they had really hits you hard. In my house, I was without lights for two days and even that was pretty tough to deal with.

Once the lights returned, turning on the television and seeing the emotions pour out of people as they looked at the remains of their house really puts everything in perspective. Imagine fighting for everything you had and watching  it all wash away over night.

Sometimes when you win, you actually lose, and sometimes when you lose you actually win.

There are so many people in the world who think that their life is horrible and most of the time it is because of unimportant things in their life that make them upset. People go on to social media site and cry and complain over littlest things in their life. Things such as their phone not working, getting a bad grade or not getting attention from someone. All of these “problems” are nothing compared to some of the more serious problems that are actually going on in the world today.

I know there have been other devastating storms in the past, but this was the first one that actually hit my home state of New Jersey. Most of the time you see it on television and never really feel the emotion. It is totally different seeing it first hand to people and place you know.

Looking at some of the beaches and places that you have been to, now gone, just makes you think about life All that remains are memories of your childhood and past.

It’s easy to get down, but now that it’s over things can only get better.

Sometimes you wonder why things like this happen and you really can’t answer it. I can’t speak for the people who lost their houses and members of their family as a result of the hurricane, but I can speak for the ones who are lucky to still have everything.

Next time something bad happens to you, take a second and think of someone who has it a lot worse than you to.

Rain, Rain, Come and Stay

What would happened if it rained 24/7? I mean nothing but rainy day, after rainy day. It sounds like a pretty good Dr. Seuss idea, or maybe similar to the children’s book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Sure, rain everyday would not seem like the ideal weather for some, but maybe rain everyday would have a greater impact than one might think.

Hey, birds! Go back inside, it’s raining! Gosh!

Rain gives you the perfect excuse to stay inside all day and be lazy. No one wants to go outside when its raining, they rather sit home, do some work around the house and read a book that they never had the chance to read. See! Already one thing that has gotten done thanks to the benefit of rain. Now let’s think a little deeper into it. Since your home and snuggled up in your house, another benefit of this would be, no need to use your car. Since there is no need to use your car, you would save money on gas and going out and spending money!

Let’s go back to 1800’s, there has been many wars fought over land, power and greed. What would happen if, the day of the war there was a huge rainstorm. No one wants to go out in the middle of a huge rain storm to fight amongst each other, they would rather settle there conflict over a nice game of cards inside! Thanks to some rain, the whole history of America could have been rewritten, well kind of!

Rainy Day Checklist

Sleep √

Chores √

Television √

Relaxation √

More sleep! √

Now back to the 2000’s, rain not only forces you to stay indoors, but it keeps you off the streets and out of trouble as well. Instead of being out on the street, you are pretty much forced to stay at home. While at home you also have to the chance to spend some time with your family. There are many people who don’t have the time to spend a few hours a day with their loved ones. This is why rain is there to help!

As you can see, rain is pretty awesome. There are many reasons why it should rain a lot more often. I am still a big fan of snow though. I would’ve made this idea up about snow, but snow is so darn annoying to clean up. Anyway, I am sorry if I offended any lovers of the beach with this idea, but a little rain can go a long way!

Look Beyond Looks

What does the word beautiful mean?

Is it what the media tells us or is it really that beauty is in the eye of the beholder? Personally, I believe beauty is defined by what the media says.

Many people take one look in a mirror, and they look away. They say to themselves that they are not “beautiful”  and say that they don’t have the perfect eyes, nose, or smile.  Then again what does the word, perfect actually mean? The answer is the word, perfect, and the word beautiful is whatever you want it to say. It is perception.

The only point of a mirror is for someone at themselves and find their flaws instead of identifying their something good about them self. Even so-called actors and actresses look in the mirror and even though they are considered “perfect” they can still point out flaws about themselves.

If these “beautiful” people thought they were fine the way they are then why do they go out and spend millions of designer clothes and cosmetic surgery?

Beyonce is the 2012 most beautiful woman. What makes her “beautiful”?

Look at any front page of a magazine and tell what do you see. You see the media’s idea of the most attractive person.

Why is this the model of what is considered beautiful?

Instead of having the most attractive person on the cover of a  magazine, how about you put someone who as actually made in impact on someone’s life. Try putting someone in the spotlight who has invented something that made a difference or maybe someone who spent their time helping others. Those are people who deserve to be on magazine covers and have cameras follow them around.

Next time you look into the mirror, think.

I want you to think, is this what I want to be? Do these clothes, shoes, and style fit who I am?

Make sure you are being the person that you want to be and not the person you want others to think you are. Stay true to yourself and don’t change for anyone, no matter what others think of you.

People can call you unattractive and this and that, but so what?

That is their opinion and who cares what they may think. Want to know the real definition of beautiful?  The people who don’t judge a book by a cover are the definition of beautiful.

Someone who can be them self without worrying what others think of them is what the word “beautiful” really means.

Fantasy Draft Turned Reality

Imagine it’s the fourth quarter and Tom Brady drops back for the pass. He looks to the right, but Percy Harvin is covered, then looks left and hits Greg Jennings in the back of the end zone for the game winning catch and the New York Jets win the 2015 Super Bowl.

Just imagine this crazy scenario taking place.

My proposal is that the NFL or any sport of that matter, should take the popular online game fantasy football game and turn it into a reality.

It can be done just like it’s done online, every team will go into a lottery system where the first team would get the first pick and so on. It would spark a brand new interest in the game of football.

All of those fans who have had years of bad luck can get a brand new jump start with the addition of someone like Cam Newton on their team. There would be a new line of revenue from all of the new players switching teams and the jersey sales would be through the roof.

Things would be a lot different if LeBron ended up somewhere else. New York anyone? Well one could only dream.

Each team would have a hard salary cap to all of them on the same playing grounds when it came to money. There could be rules implemented such as teams using a franchise tag on only one player they want to keep, before the rest go into the fantasy draft.

The options are endless to the fun and excitement of making fantasy football a reality. Coaches could even be thrown into the mix as well, maybe even team announcers, they can make it as entertaining and as crazy as they want.

I know when I watch football sometimes it seems boring watching the same players on the same team year after year. When your team plays Aaron Rodgers they know he is going to dominate and take over the game like always, but what if he was on a team with a bad supporting cast, it would really show if he has the actual ability to still be a superstar quarterback.

The world is always changing and people are looking for something new and exciting. I think this would really shake up the world of sports.

Even other sports could attempt a similar fantasy draft like the one that I proposed here. Now that would be something.

Just think the years of pain and anguish of being a Cleveland Browns fan may be over. Think about the cocky and stuck up Los Angeles Lakers fans, they can finally be humbled by having someone other than Kobe Bryant hitting game winning shot after shot for them.

Top 4 – Sports Uniforms

When you play a sport it has to be done in style, it is a fact.

After that game winning shot or walk off home run for the win, it better be done looking good. I’m going to take a look at the best looking uniforms in sports today!

ImageNFL – Carolina Panthers

Now that the Panthers finally have a good QB under center, it is time that someone shows their jerseys some respect. The blue and the black combo is pretty awesome. You pair that with a pretty mean looking panther for the logo and I think it looks pretty fresh. I like the complimentary silver touch to it as well.

Image

NHL – Anaheim Ducks

These aren’t the Mighty Ducks from the movie. The Anaheim Ducks go with the black and gold colors. I think anything black and gold, has that swagger to it. That feel like, don’t mess with the ducks or else. I do love the old school white and purple Mighty Ducks uniforms from the movie too. Goldberg could not be messed with in the net rocking the purple.

 Image

NBA – New York Knicks

These jerseys are classics dating back to the Walt Frazier days. When you see the blue and orange you know that you are facing the Knicks. I just think the history behind the team and colors really make these jerseys what they are. There has been some altercations from the original logo and lettering, but these Knick jerseys are definitely classics.

Image

MLB – Atlanta Braves

The blue, the red and the cool script A for the logo just go together perfect. I like the Braves jerseys because they are simple and not overly flashy. Compared to some of the other overly colorful jerseys in the league, like the Miami Marlins for example. The Braves manage to keep that fresh, clean look.
