Top 5 – Shows of the 90’s Nickelodeon Edition

I am going to break down the top shows of the 90’s on Nickelodeon. Honestly, this might have been the hardest list to create . I grew up on these shows, so it’s so hard to choose and rank them. I’m sure everyone has their opinions on their favorites, but here are my top 5!

# 5 Rugrats

What more is there to say. Babies who can talk, get in and out of trouble and grow up right before our eyes. The best episodes of the Rugrats were when they were all babies before Dill Pickles came along. After they grew up and had the Rugrats All Grown Up season, that is when I turned out.

#4 Rocket Power

To this day, I still don’t know, “Who put the sand in the potato salad.” Inside Rocket Power joke right there. Otto, Twister, Reggie and the Squid make up the gang. I wish I had the life they do. They live near the beach, get free food because Otto and Reggie’s dad own the “Shake Shack” and just skate/surf all day. Have to say that the Squid is my favorite character, the poor guy is always trying to avoid danger, but still trying to fit in with the crew. Don’t forget Tito and his amazing Hawaiian flashbacks either.

#3 Doug

Doug Funny might be the greatest name ever. When you pair him with Patty Mayonnaise, a dog Porkchop and his best friend Skeeter, who is blue, you have an incredible show. Doug initially started off on Nickelodeon and also aired on Disney, but I’m counting it as a Nickelodeon show because that’s where I watched my daily Doug. Quailman was Doug’s alter ego who fought crime, and that guy would make me laugh every time, just on the outfit alone. Doug introduced us to the greatest band in cartoon history, The Beets. Their songs still run through my head from time to time.

#2 Kennan and Kel

Kennan and Kel is classic. This show is hilarious, one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. Kel and his love for orange soda are kind of weird, but pretty much sums up what the show. Kel is the trouble maker while Kennan is the sidekick, kind of like Batman to Robin. Kennan and Kel are just an amazing as a pair. That is why Good Burger, which is the movie starring both Kennan and Kel, is in my top five movies of all time.

#1 Hey Arnold!

Here is my #1 pick. Honestly, my favorite show of all time. I watch Hey Arnold even today. Arnold, Gerald, Stinky, Helga, Sid, Grandpa, Jolly Olly Man, Stoop Kid trust me the list goes on. Not only is it funny, but you still get that take home moral lesson at the end of the episode. My favorite episode has to be the snow one. Epic episode. Amazing show.

Honorable Mention

  • CatDog
  • SpongeBob SquarePants
  • Rocko’s Modern Life

Why The Xbox 720 (One) And PS4 Are Set To Fail

Rumors are coming out that may change the video game world forever. But not in a right way. Microsoft and Sony are both considering banning the use of used games.

I said it, no more used games.

As an everyday gamer, used games are what save us gamers from struggling to scrap out sixty dollars whenever we want a new game. Don’t even get me started on how ridiculous sixty dollars for a match is already.

Microsoft and Sony’s plan is to make as much money as possible; money is all it is ever about.

Most of Game Stop and Play N Trade’s business is from buying used games for cheap and over selling them, so without used game they would lose a lot of profit. Also, don’t forget about the consumer, the typical gamer will get poorer as well. So it’s a win for Sony and Microsoft and a loss everyone else.

I just don’t get it. The Xbox 360 and the PS3 already have over the top graphics and lightning fast performance right now. I don’t see how much they can improve on.

Let’s not even get started on how these game industries are making consumers obtain an “online pass” to play online. Gamers who want to play online, have to buy the online pass to play online; it’s crazy.

I hope that this is just a rumor and is not going to turn into reality. If so the world of gaming will never be the same. It would finally show that it is all about the money, not for the gamer.

E3 2012 is taking place in June. We will see if any new details emerge.

(2016 update: my prediction was right!)

Tebow Time

(2016 update: Tim Tebow never got his chance at QB with the Jets; he is still the man).

It is Tebow time.

When the Jets were about to have an under the radar off-season for the first time in forever. They still somehow manage to land the biggest name in, well if not in football, but in all of the sports.

The Jets acquired Tim Tebow for a 4th and 6th round pick in the 2012 NFL draft. A low-risk move for a former playoff quarterback and a proven winner.

So what does this all mean, was it a good trade or was it a trade just to stir up some headlines.

Let’s look at it like this, as a Jets fan I am content with what Mark Sanchez has done, but am not satisfied. He has taken the Jets to two AFC title games but has lost them both. Outside fans and analysis all say that Sanchez is young, and Jet fans should be grateful for him to have taken them that far.

But what about Ben Rothlisberger for example, he won the Superbowl in his second year in the league. So there is no justice when someone says to be grateful for what Mark Sanchez has done.

Let’s talk about Tebow.

There is no denying that he is as genuine and as hard working as they come. I would have to imagine what coach would not want someone like that on their team.

What I don’t get is that people say, oh Tebow he’s a good man, but he doesn’t have the mechanics or the by the book type delivery to be successful. All that matters in the NFL are winning, it doesn’t matter how you do it, but as Herm Edwards said, “You play to win the game.”

Many argue that Tebow should just switch to a different position because he is obviously not able to be a quarterback. Tebow won both the National Championship and the Heisman as a quarterback; it is evident that the kid has some talent.

Was it all worth it?

I think it is a win, win for the Jets. If Mark Sanchez struggles for another year in a row then he deserves to get replaced, the NFL is a competition. If someone is incapable of leading your team to anything short of a Championship then they should be replaced, simple as that. Last time I checked, the Jets haven’t been in the Superbowl since 1969, the Joe Willy Namath days.

Will Tebow be starting at some point this season? Who knows? I think if Sanchez struggles, without a doubt No. 15 deserves to be under center. We will have wait and see and see how the Tebow story unfolds.

Well this is my first post ever.

Pretty amazing stuff I know.

I am going to keep it short and simple. I have always had a passion for writing, so now here I am now. I’m an aspiring sports journalist (and writer). I also love music, video games and all of your typical things like that. So… hopefully I can make it big one day.
