Dancing in the Dark

“You said forever, right?”

A soft breeze sifted through her silky, blonde hair as she skipped through a field of brightly, blossomed daisies. Her elegant dress swayed behind her following her every jump and twirl. She was hand in hand with the love of her life and grasped his hand tightly because she didn’t want to let go.

All of her life she had been hoping for it all to come together, and at this exact moment and time she had that butterfly feeling she has been longing for.

She made a promise to her love that they would be together forever and now they were alone: together, forever.

After years of searching, the person she fell in love with was right beside her this whole time. When they met, it was love at first sight and it was a day she would never forget.

They were inseparable. Where she went he was there to follow. Not a moment went by without them thinking about each other. Every single night before bed, she reached over and whispered in his ear how important he was to her.

Every single night she would say the same exact thing….

Her flashback dream began to turn into a reality as red and blue entwined off in the distance. Her skip became a walk and she loosened her grip to let her love fall to the floor.

The cop car lights illuminated her face as she sluggishly turned around to face the cop. Eye liner ran down her cheek and her white dress was stained red.

The cop approached and said, “Excuse me, Miss, why are you out here in the dark?”

Her lips moved, but no words came out.

She reached to the ground to pick up her companion and ran toward the cop, inserted her lover into the cop’s side and he fell to the floor.

She stood above him with a smirk.

Galaxies of stars were the only witnesses to what had just happened.

She held up her love up to the moonlight as she stared into his eyes.

They shared the same pair of eyes and also the same silky, blonde hair. She felt along his curves and loved the way he held her. She wiped her hand on her dress and whispered to her newlywed, “You said forever, right?” and smiled.

She lifted her dress off of the ground and skipped off into the night as her dress struggled to keep up behind her.

Behind the Mask

October 24, 2012

When I say Superman, you think cape. When I say Batman, you think black suit. How about The Hulk? Giant, green guy who is too big for his own good? Yup, you got it! Every superhero has style and some styles are definitely better than others. When your out there fighting crime, it’s pretty obvious that you need a cool outfit to do so. The costume is just as important as the person inside of it.

Don’t take off your mask, its your identity. Spidey, no! :O

Ring, ring, ring and your awaken by the screeching sound of the phone. Finally, you drag your self out of bed, wipe your eyes and give a big morning stretch.  Slowly you pick up the phone and to your surprise it’s the Green Lantern! He said, he wants you to come to his birthday party.

The catch is that only super heroes are invited and everyone needs a costume. He says that you can pick out any costume you want and only have a few hours until the party!

Immediately, you jump out off your couch, put on your socks and run to the closest Halloween store. Once you get there, you realize that you might have went to the wrong place. Unless you want to dress up like a clown or a ghost this isn’t the place for legit superhero costumes.

Finally, you return to your house, get out your sketch book and begin to plan out your costume.

Definitely one of the coolest superhero suits ever! Look at that style and awesomeness!

Now the pencil is in your hand and your blanking out! It is a lot harder than it seemed at first, right?

Me personally, I would have to make sure my superhero costume was comfortable. Luckily, for The Hulk all he wears are sweatpants, while someone like Iron Man has to wear an annoying iron suit. I would definitely make sure my suit was comfy.

Next, it’s all about the mask. I would want a mask similar to the one that Wolverine from X-Men would wear. That mask was freaking awesome. I would take that mask,  make it black and add some blue pinstripes along the side. For my suit, I would want a suit that was similar to Batman, but I would want it to have some blue lines that ran down it to match the mask, preferably cool neon ones that shined in the dark.

Last, but not least I would take whatever shoes The Flash has. That dude is fast as heck!  I would just  hope  his shoes came in a size 10.5.

Now my suit is planned out and I can go save the world and drink some punch at the party!

The Mic is in Your Hands

September 24, 2012

Hello, excuse me, is this thing on?

I was told that I have only one minute to talk and I have a few things to say. My name is Vincent and I’m just your normal 21 year-old kid from New Jersey. I sit back, live life and try to learn new things along the way. I stay out of trouble and always keep family and others above everything else. I’m here because I was promised by the President of the United States that I have one minute to say whatever is on my mind. This is my first time in front of a camera, let alone being on television, so just bare with me, I might come off as a little nervous.

Well let me begin, my first issue is war, why are we still in it and why are our troops overseas? I thought that we have achieved our mission. I know, many agree and many disagree with me, but I’m just looking at it from my point of view. We promised to send troops home, but many are still out on duty. No one should be out in different countries, they need to be home in the United States. If we are out overseas to look for oil then we don’t need soldiers to do so. Nothing good ever comes out of war, send home all of our troops.

Next, television and music. I am tired and fed up of what music is played on the radio and what is shown all over the world. It is just ridiculous and inappropriate that we are spreading these kind of messages to our younger generations. Many are wondering why, why are we in debt, why are there no jobs and why is the economy is down? I think the messages through music and television are part of the reason why.

Kids turn on the radio or turn on the television and reenact what they see. Girls think that it is okay to be sluts and boys think that it is okay to be pimps. Then we sit back and wonder why there are so many teenagers who are pregnant. Instead of going out and trying to pursue an education or better the world, many kids are sitting home sleeping through life, hoping that the world is handed to them.

One man, once voice, one dream

It is not entirely their fault, some of the blame falls on the media and you Mr. President.  It is the media that wants to make money. They know what sells and that is why they put this sexual, degrading products on the radio and on television. For some reason or another, people love to watch and listen to it and the media knows that. They know that views equals money. Do they care about the message that they are sending out? No. They are self-centered people who only care about themselves.

I’m sorry, but  Mr. President, you sit up in your office behind your millions of dollars as the world turns and things get worse. The poor keep getting poorer and the rich keep getting richer. Yet, behind it all you promise change, you promise a different life and a different future for the children of tomorrow. I was naive to realize it, but what you said was mostly a lie. I’m not singling you out Mr. President, I’m talking about you as well as the presidents before you and presidents who are next to follow. All of whom promise the world, but never deliver.

I think that I have surpassed my one minute limit. I am sorry if I have offended any one with this speech, but I’m just speaking from the heart.

Just like Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream, I too have a dream.

I dream that the world can one day wake up and realize some of its flaws instead of glorifying itself. I dream for a bright future and a brighter tomorrow.

Thank you all for your time.

Fashion is something that is always changing. Fitting in and being up to date with “cool” trends is always desired. Let’s face it, no one likes being the person out of the loop and not being included. Whenever there is a new pair of shoes or a new popular brand with a line if new releases, people line up with wallets in hand. They are ready to spend crazy amounts of money to get the popular, new, trendy clothes.

I get it, in the judge a book by its cover world that we live in now, people want to look there best. Tell me though, why do people buy these hundred-dollar branded pieces of apparel? What is the difference between buying a fancy new Coach bag and taking a bag and writing a C on it? To me there is no difference. People judge others on the brands they wear and its pretty sad.  There is a reason why the most missed day of school for younger kids is the first day. The reason is because all of the kids come to school with their new shoes and backpacks trying to show off. Kids judge others who don’t have the nice clothes like they do and the fashion industry deserves a good deal of the blame. I think that people need to stop buying these brand-name products and stop pouring money in these industries to keep them going.

“We all self-conscious, I’m just the first to admit it.”

This is a line in the Kanye West song, All Falls Down. Honestly, he could not be any more correct. Face it, when you go to the store, instead of buying the cheaper shirt or pair of jeans, you go straight for the fancy designer clothes. It’s not a bad thing to admit to it, there are millions of people who do the same the same thing.

Fashion is always changing and I think its time that it changes again. Stop with the over priced Juicy Couture bags, shoes, etc. Make a brand that is cheap and affordable. Lose the models and the attention that you try to achieve with your products. If these companies lowered their prices and made their products accessible and easier to buy, they make more money and would be saving so much discrimination and self-consciousness in the world as well, without even knowing it. I say we all make a change for that.

Today I did this, tomorrow I will do that and I can’t believe that actually happened to me. Sounds kind of familiar, right?

It’s pretty much what people use social media for, that is to share exactly what happened to them every second of the day. Some people are obsessed with social media and the need to update their life to an audience. There are all kinds of people who use social media. Family members, friends and even celebrities use it as well. I think it’s time to stop talking about what happened to you on a daily basis and time to go out and actually live life without a status update every hour.

There are many positives when it comes to social media. I think the biggest one is staying in touch with all of your close contacts. It’s a quick, easy way to say hi to someone who you want to talk to, but don’t really want to call up on the phone. Also, it can be used to share pictures and memories that you can sit back and reminisce on some day. All of this I get and understand. I think that it is great to keep in contact with someone who you really couldn’t see on a daily basics. I am not saying social media is a bad thing, I’m saying people need to stop spending every hour of the day using social media.

Hop on a social media site and there are posts about some of the most useless things ever. Some of these posts include people pretty much sharing their life to the world. There are people who tell every little issue of their life, including what they should eat for dinner that night. I think that people like to use it for attention, they want it to seem that they are so important that even their littlest of decisions will impacts someones life reading it. The biggest abuse of social media has to be celebrities. They use social media as a platform to build their celebrity status and obtain a big of a  following as possible.

Social media pressures young teenage kids into following trends for all the wrong reasons.

Let’s take an example, your friend Lisa has a party with a few friends. The day after, she posts all of her pictures from the party on a social media site where the world can see. All of her pictures include her and her friends in revealing clothing, surrounded by under age drinking. Everyone she knows comments on her pictures saying how much fun they had and how it was the greatest night ever. As a young kid at the time, you see these other kids getting so much interest and popularity that you want to do the same exact them as they do. Why would you not? What kid doesn’t’ want the spotlight and attention. Teenage kids are promoting that these actions are acceptable and worst of all celebrities are doing the same exact thing, showing that it okay to do.

Is social media a good thing or a bad thing? I would still say it was a good thing, but with some hesitation. It’s great to use to keep in touch with your friends and to share your ideas or whatever is on your mind from time to time. It gets to a point where it is used just for the sake of trying to get attention. What is the point of posting party pictures or revealing pictures of yourself on social media? The answer is that there is none and trust me there are kids, teens and adults who continue to do so. There is also no point to update every hour what you are doing, or where you are going, it is just crazy! It’s fine to enjoy social media, but not don’t become consumed with it. Don’t go crazy posting random things just for attention, just remember the world is watching.

Why do people always follow the new popular trend?

I guess I will never know.

Some of the popular trends were awesome don’t get me wrong, like the Pokemon trend back in the old elementary school days. I even understood the Jersey Shore and Justin Bieber trends, even though they were crazy, I still understood them at least. Now the new trend is all about zombies, vampires and the living dead. I will never understand this one.

So people enjoy watching zombies and vampires attack poor innocent people? Is that what people like, I mean that’s what zombies and vampires do. They are scary looking dudes who are out to kill humans. Twilight, True Blood and some of these other shows and movies, even show you not to mess around with the undead.

Sure, I guess it is entertaining to watch on television. But, I wonder what would happen if all of these zombie and vampire lovers were faced with an actual real life zombie or vampire. How entertaining would it be then, exactly. They all would probably run away, instead of being intrigued like they are when they see them on television.

Keep on loving your zombies and vampires, but if you are ever faced with a real life one. Good luck.
