gone-with-the-wind

This is a super long poem/story type of piece. Let’s call it a poery (poem+story = poery) Yes, I just made that word up. Since it is a “poery” I’m going to break it up into three different parts and publish them separately so stay tuned for all three parts!

_______________________________________________________________________

Vanished with the world

And trapped behind time

Twirling and swirling

Around every curve

Stuck in a pattern of repetitive flow

Wishing for a new start far, far away

Soft spoken words around every twist

Push the limits and round into shape

So elegant, so sweet

Depending on direction and the next journey’s end

Can turn in on a dime without a notice

To knock it down, all that stands in the way

With no regret of the others inside

For when the sunsets a word trembles in fear

But it’s still there to push along,

Guiding the way

And with a lick of a finger held up to the sky

It will help foreshadow the future,

But remain in the present

Hoping the direction will parallel with a nod

Reach for the Sky

Is life worth living without goals?

What is the point of waking up in the morning if you don’t go out into the world with a dream or task you want to accomplish? Sometimes life goes by so fast and we don’t have time to achieve everything we set out to do.

There are people who are not born into the best family and don’t have everything that they ask for. Life isn’t handed to them and they are one step behind the starting line. Those people dream of being normal, while normal people dream of  being in the upper class. It is a constant cycle of people trying to make it to the next level.

One thing that is equal for everyone in the world is the ability to go out, set a goal and do everything in your power to achieve it.

If life was so easy would there be a point to live it?

Life is the same for everyone, but people start off at different points. In a way that is what makes life beautiful, but at the same time can tear it apart.

Many are handed money and fame without earning it and they usually take advantage of it. Others who strive to reach that level in their life usually appreciate the road it takes to get there. They make sure not to mess up their once in a life time chance. Even though there are still many people who abuse their status once they reach it.

When you wake up in the morning don’t roll out of bed thinking saying how your life will never change. Get out of bed with goals and dreams in mind. Let those dreams guide you and help you achieve happiness and satisfaction in your life. Never give up chasing your dreams no matter how much they try and outrun you.

“No one is born with a hand full of aces. No matter the hand you’re dealt, there is always a chance to win.”

Hit the Note

Melody of thoughts

Started with a prelude in his head

Vocals in his heart

Hit the perfect tone every time

Like a treble to the bass

Or a clef to a staff

High-hats led the way and turned his lyrics into rap

A tap of his foot pulsed a rhythm in the sky

And a whistle from his lips

Made it like an ensemble passing by

Repeated again and again

It held his emotions deep inside

But the snare of the drums

Beat too loud for them to hide

Freedom Ain’t Free

April 14, 2013

The fight for freedom was not easy. Many lives were given and documents written, but are we truly free?

Maybe the government thinks we are according to their standard, but I believe we are still trapped within ourselves. One misplaced word and you can be thrown into jail with little or no reason.

The freedom of speech and the ability to express yourself is a privilege, but are we as “free” as we think we are.

In the United States there are many different ethnic groups living together and it is pretty amazing to see. But if you look closer, those groups live alongside one another, but many tend to stay with their own race because it’s safe and they feel shielded in their group.

Honestly, I can understand how they feel and that need of comfort, but with the division among people it also bring discrimination and segregation between groups.

There is freedom of religion and speech, but there is limitations, so your freedom comes with a price. If one group tries to mingle with another, it’s hard because they are looked down upon, considered a type of outsider.

It is a beautiful thing to be able to express yourself and be individual, but what good is it if you are still judged by others around you?

Tell me when we are finally free. Not free amongst our own individual groups, but free together as one.

Dancing in the Dark

“You said forever, right?”

A soft breeze sifted through her silky, blonde hair as she skipped through a field of brightly, blossomed daisies. Her elegant dress swayed behind her following her every jump and twirl. She was hand in hand with the love of her life and grasped his hand tightly because she didn’t want to let go.

All of her life she had been hoping for it all to come together, and at this exact moment and time she had that butterfly feeling she has been longing for.

She made a promise to her love that they would be together forever and now they were alone: together, forever.

After years of searching, the person she fell in love with was right beside her this whole time. When they met, it was love at first sight and it was a day she would never forget.

They were inseparable. Where she went he was there to follow. Not a moment went by without them thinking about each other. Every single night before bed, she reached over and whispered in his ear how important he was to her.

Every single night she would say the same exact thing….

Her flashback dream began to turn into a reality as red and blue entwined off in the distance. Her skip became a walk and she loosened her grip to let her love fall to the floor.

The cop car lights illuminated her face as she sluggishly turned around to face the cop. Eye liner ran down her cheek and her white dress was stained red.

The cop approached and said, “Excuse me, Miss, why are you out here in the dark?”

Her lips moved, but no words came out.

She reached to the ground to pick up her companion and ran toward the cop, inserted her lover into the cop’s side and he fell to the floor.

She stood above him with a smirk.

Galaxies of stars were the only witnesses to what had just happened.

She held up her love up to the moonlight as she stared into his eyes.

They shared the same pair of eyes and also the same silky, blonde hair. She felt along his curves and loved the way he held her. She wiped her hand on her dress and whispered to her newlywed, “You said forever, right?” and smiled.

She lifted her dress off of the ground and skipped off into the night as her dress struggled to keep up behind her.

In My Mind

A tear fell to the floor

Pen in hand

And idea in mind

It did not come out

He tried to jot down words

But could not do so

He wrote

Then erased

And tried to write again

He ran out the room

But still stuck inside

Bars kept him trapped

The same ones in his mind

Luck or Fate?

March 3, 2013

Millions of people pay money to play the lottery. There is not one person in the world who wouldn’t like to win a few million dollars. What if by some crazy chance you happened to win? Would you justify it by saying you were lucky or was it fate?

Being lucky or unlucky is something you are not born with. It is something that just happens. Sometimes there is no reasoning for things that happen.

People like to use the word fate because it justifies something that happened. It gives a definitive meaning to the question, why?

Many people tend to think that fate is going to lead them on their path of life. Some think that they were born with some sort of purpose or contribution that they are going to make one day. Many people who are religious believe in fate and destiny as well. I am pretty religious myself, and I think that you can have faith, but it’s to hard believe in fate.

Faith is easy to have. Fate, well not so much

Finding a heads up penny on the street is considered good luck, but why? I really don’t understand who came up with this idea. Did some lucky guy find a heads up penny on the ground and this lead to his luck? Maybe, it was lucky for him, but why the heck would it be lucky for me!

The sun will rise tomorrow and life will go on if you have luck, fate, neither or both.

A Flicker in the Night

February 18, 2013

candleinthewind

A lonely light lingers in a room full of darkness

Sparks ignite

She shimmers and glows

She dances and drips down to the floor

A breeze engulfs her

But fights off the urge to stop

She’s the entertainment of the night

The star of the show

Bright as any in the sky,

Glowing for all see

Alone in the world

But her fire inside burns bright

The beat in her heart pulses the room

And eyes follow up and down

Her every twirl

Without her

A world trembles in fear

One blow

She dances no more

A lonely light lingers in a room full of darkness

Not a Word

Wind whistled on by as she strolled down the road

Whispers of wonder wandered around in the autumn air

With a twirl of her hair, eyes turned to take a tour

Men stared memorized at the majestic woman

But dared not to speak

Clouds formed a crowd for a stare

But the sun sought to be first to see

Rays shined through the clouds

And graced upon her golden face

A sparkle in her eye

A wave of her hand

The crowd moved forward

Time was behind and she had people

And places to perceive

A stroll turned to a sprint

They troubled to keep stride

By the end of the road

A timely choice had to be complete

No time to go back

But time to glance down

A smile to the spectators, a sparkle in her eye

She was gone

A Road Already Traveled

January 28, 2013

Imagine if someone gave you a map of your life with every choice you are going to make with an X at the end. Would you take the map or just throw it away?

Having this map would be pretty helpful. Now you would know  what mistakes your were going to make before you actually made them. If you had a tough decision to make and you ended up making the wrong choice, you could change it because you now know the outcome.

A downside to this idea is that, where is the excitement? Some people live for the unexpected. They like living on the edge and not knowing what lies ahead of them.

I think that knowing your destination takes away from the meaning of life. It takes away from our ability to make choices and chose our own paths. Sure, some would breathe a sigh of relief knowing if their hard work is going to pay off, but not knowing if your going to reach your goal is what keeps us going.

Me personally, I enjoy not knowing the unknown. Waking up and not expecting what may or may not happen that day. I think it all depends on the person that you are. There are some that like taking chances, while there are others who like knowing what is going to happen next. Some skip to the end of a movie just to watch the ending while others enjoy watching the plot and story unfold in front of them.

Here is another tough choice. What if you found out the path you were in was a one that had a nightmare ending. Maybe being in the wrong place at the wrong time and something bad happening to you. This is when knowing the future would be very helpful and may save you from a nightmare ending and turn it into something a lot more rewarding.

No need for a map when you already know your destination!

When that time comes and you find that so-called treasure map with your life planned out, do you dare to look?

I think I would just take that map of my life and put it back in the treasure box that it came in and live life without it.
